Habitat For Humanity Halloween 100

I'll be riding in the Halloween 100 again this year to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity of Durham, NC. The first year I did this we raised over $500. The second year, over $800. This year I'd like to shoot for $1000.

I know the economy is really bad right now and many of us have had the additional expenses of paying more to fill up our cars and donating to political campaigns recently, but anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated and will help to carry out the important work that Habitat for Humanity does.

Thanks!

Gardening In NC

I'm slowly but surely getting better at this southern gardening thang.....

The melons, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, blueberries and blackberries all came from our garden and there's a good deal more where that came from. We grew the boy too but he's one-of-a-kind.

Steve Jobs at Stanford

Every once in a great while I come across something that resonates with me to such a degree that I have to read it over and over again, much like listening to a great song over and over again. This speech that Steve Jobs gave at Stanford is one of those things:

Who elects idiots like this guy?

Way to go Tom Tancredo, you win the asshole of the week award. Thanks for making the world a little less safe for all of us.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, a Colorado Republican, was asked on a radio talk show Friday how the United States should respond if terrorists struck several of its cities with nuclear weapons.

"Well, what if you said something like _ if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites," Tancredo answered.

When host Pat Campbell of WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla. asked if he meant "bombing Mecca," the congressman responded: "Yeah."

Let's see, there are approximately 1.2 Billion Muslims in the world and this guy is hell-bent on pissing every last one of them off. We go from a small handful of extremists who hate Americans to over a billion people who want to kick our asses. I wonder if this guy likes to play with lit matches and gasoline for kicks.

btw Tom, there are currently around 295,734,134 Americans according to the CIA. Now you do the math and figure out who comes out on the losing end of your idiotic scheme. Nice move idiot boy.

I guess he wasn't getting any traction on this one......

Let's hope we don't get stuck with this yahoo as our next president:

Bush agrees to end Schiavo inquiry

Gov. Jeb Bush agreed to close an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collapse of Terri Schiavo after a state prosecutor said there is no evidence of any crime.

BY GARY FINEOUT

TALLAHASSEE -The final chapter in the life, and death, of Terri Schiavo may have finally closed Thursday when Gov. Jeb Bush agreed to drop any further investigation into why Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago.Bush made his decision after a state prosecutor in St. Petersburg concluded there was no evidence to suggest that a crime caused Schiavo's heart to stop beating Feb. 25, 1990 or that there was enough evidence to suggest that her husband, Michael Schiavo, delayed calling for emergency help.

A lot to say, yet nothing to say

I've felt like writing something here for a while, it feels like I have a lot I want to say and at the same time I just feel totally overwhelmed. When I looked at this blog the other day for the first time in a long time I didn't recall writing the last entry. That one took me totally by surprise.

So in lieu of writing anything of any substance all I can offer right now is this cool link I found today. Its a site I've been to before but I never noticed until today that they have the pamphlets available as free pdf downloads:
